Ask #029 - Down the Driveway

Ask #039 - Down The Driveway January 23, 2023 So I woke up this morning to SNOW…Just like anyone else in upstate New York today so I am not special or different but I felt different this morning.   It was 4:45 am and I had this urge to get up and shovel.  Like really, God?  I am sure there will be a delay and even if there is not a delay and I start now there is NO WAY I will make it out of here and to work on time.  So I put off getting up and just waited, but checked my phone periodically.   I stayed in bed until 5 am but then I just couldn’t ignore the urge to get up anymore.   I got up, put on my boots and a light jacket.  Yes, if my husband is reading this he will laugh because the other morning I went out and started shoveling in just my nightgown and boots (but have been known to go out and shovel in my flip flops with no coat so this was an improvement.)  For me there is something refreshing about going out in the crisp cool morning shoveling and getting the job done.  When s

ASK #028 - Good or Rocky Soil: Sowing from the flesh or Spirit

Good or Rocky Soil: Sowing from the flesh or the Spirit Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 Written March 2022 The Parable of the Sower 13 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” In verse 4 the parable refers to birds that snatch up th

ASK #027 - Ask for His Timing

Image
Ask for His Timing written: September 15th, 2022 1 John 5:13-14 Concluding Affirmations 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. This is a good and gentle reminder that God wants a relationship with us. When we have a relationship with the Lord we have the ability to speak to Him freely. Through my podcast and Facebook page “Ask, Seek, Knock,” I try to encourage other believers to ask the Lord for their needs… Seek Him in all that they do… And continue knocking. Matthew 7:7  has become a daily reminder for my life that we need to constantly be seeking the Lord and talking with Him so that we can know His will for our lives.  More importantly we need to continually seek His will not our own. Matthew 7:7 (NIV)  “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will b

ASK #026 - Faith or Fleshly Desires

Image
Faith or Fleshly desires written: September 13th, 2022   2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NIV) For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”   So this verse prompted me to go and read the context of the verse to get true meaning for this verse.   At first glance you think "hmmm...that makes sense, you don't work, you don't get paid, you can't buy food."  But I am sure there is more to it than that.  So I went to 2 Thessalonians 3 and read the full chapter.  This is what I got from it.   2 Thessalonians is full of information about the end times but it also tells us that we are to work for what we have, not to be idle and to pray for others.   Paul felt led to write the second set of letters in 2 Thessalonians because there was so much false teachings going on and he wanted the believers to know and understand the truth as well as to understand and know his handwriting so they are not deceived by the false teaching

ASK #025 - A Faithful Disciple

Image
A Faithful Disciple Acts 8:4-8, 25-40 Written: September 16th, 2022 We are each placed on a different path of life.  It is up to us what we will do with it.  While a faithful witness can be encouraging and motivating to others, we need to open our mouths and share it.  If we hold onto the truths we have learned without sharing it, what do we have?   Christ instructs us to “Go out and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) We need to share our faith journey with others in order to help bring others to the kingdom.   In Acts, we are told about a man named Philip.  The Spirit of the Lord tells Philip to go to the city of Samaria and preach Christ to them.  As Philip spoke of Christ to those of Samaria “unclean spirits cried out” and the paralyzed were healed…all in the name of Jesus and there was great joy!   As Philip testified, people listened.   As instructed, Philip returned to Jerusalem and at this time an ange
